John Farmer from Burntwood in Staffordshire has taken advantage of funding made available to anyone who has an idea that could help bring people together to make a difference to their communities.
John said: “Our local cricket club is in need of some ground maintenance and repairs to improve the facilities and we’re looking for volunteers to come along and help out. To make it more appealing for people I thought it would be a good idea to organise a community event at the club.
“The idea is to get as many people involved as possible and we thought the best way to do this is make the weekend as family friendly as possible.
“I applied for £200 from YouCan to pay for a bouncy castle and inflatable football game and this money will also allow us to provide free food for everyone who comes along to help out.
“We’re hoping that all of the community turn out for the event which takes place at Burntwood St. Matthews Cricket Club on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 of April – with the free entertainment and food on offer it should be a fantastic weekend.”
YouCan offer grants of up to £300 so if you have an idea that needs a little help to bring it to life, why not apply here.
